Many things stuck out to me from yesterday's FNL sermon, but one in particular hit me the hardest:

In order to be truly mature, you must learn how to kill your emotions.

Human love is so selfish because we only ever want to make things easy and happy. God is so perfect and so amazingly loving because He is willing to hurt us so He can restore us. (Hosea 2)
