that's not my name

Yeah, like the head-bopping, catchy-but-then-it-gets-annoying song by the Ting Tings.

Okay, this is a very not-edifying entry, but seriously, I need to get this out.

My name is Sarah. S-A-R-A-H. With an H at the end. The H is there because when you say my name backwards, it sounds like "harass." Not "Aras." Which is not even a word.

What I don't understand is that in/on both my e-mail addresses (school and personal), my Facebook page, this blog - my name is CLEARLY there, written as S-A-R-A-H. And YET, there are still people who reply back, "Hi Sara" or "Sara, etc etc" or my personal favorite, "Happy Birthday, Sara!" Yes, it could have been a typo, so 98% of the time, I'll just let it slide. It happens a lot with first-time DP correspondents; sometimes, the second time around, they correct themselves. But if it becomes consistent, then OBVIOUSLY you are not reading my name correctly OR you're just choosing to spell my name like that on purpose because, I don't know, all the Sarah's you've known in your life were actually Sara's.

For me, Sara looks unbalanced because it has only 4 letters, making it look not symmetric. I like symmetry because I have OCD tendencies about certain things...like symmetry. So, this is just a polite request, but please please please please please spell my name correctly. It's just a pet peeve of mine, and I've dealt with it all my life, but somehow, especially for friends who do it, it just makes me feel like they don't care enough to actually bother to spell my name correctly. Biblical Sarah - with an H!

Thanks :)

it was ann m. brown. and yes, that was a very stupid mistake on my part, but i at least got the main name (first, last) correct!

i'm pretty sure i told you about my own symmetry/OCD issues so if you're copying me, shame on you.
on a slightly more serious note, my friend sarah from high school has the same issues. her basketball coach misspelled her name at the beginning of ball season all 4 years of high school.

DUDE. people always put my name like..
Kim Lily (messed up SO many times in yearbooks. once i was printed twice under Kim Lily and Lily Kim. O_o)
my FIRST name is clearly LILY. adsfsd
i'm OCD about my name too. it's too short (only 7 letters) so that's why i like to put the E in the middle so it's more balanced. Lily E. Kim :)

Sarah,

I enjoyed your entry. Equal amount of problems here. Priscila with 1 "l" apparently extremely hard to spell correctly.
