So, a lot of people always ask how I can stand to be in this dungeon-like, window-less basement of the Design building, and honestly...sometimes, I have no idea how either. Even though I acknowledge that it's a little ridiculous, the number of hours I've spent here, but something about it has definitely made me come to call it my second home.
1. It's where I've experienced God on Sundays, Mondays, Thursdays, and sometimes Fridays and Saturdays. And I'm pretty sure there's been at least one Tuesday and one Wednesday. This made me realize that the church is not a building, but rather, a body of believers.
2. It's where I found my family away from family, my community, my fellowship that I've been thirsting for throughout my entire life.
3. It's been the go-to place for impromptu post-FNL hangouts and organized class activities, for both filming films and watching films.
4. It's remained the study place I can't seem to leave, even though I've now found at least 3 other locations where I like to study as well.
5. It's where I've been able to forge and maintain friendships, even if we don't say a word to each other for 40 minutes straight because we're too absorbed in our respective work.
6. It's that place you go to without knowing for sure if someone you know is going to be there, and somehow, you almost always find someone. And that's pretty comforting.
7. It's where I fell in love ... with my OFamily.
8. It has fed me Peanut M&Ms and Mike and Ikes at odd hours of the day.
9. I've had 2 classes here this semester, so I guess it finally became part of my academic life as well.
10. Where else would you see a mouse climb up a wire to the computer station and then hear it squeak as it falls off? And then watch it do it all over again?
It is very possible that I may stop studying/hangingout/living here next year, but it's been such a good place to me this year. Lame, I know. But it's true :)
