i ♥ fm

I actually have no real reason to write this post, except that I thought it would be funny to beat this kid to it because I know when he gets a chance to sit down and blog during winter break, it will mention FM at least once. Or maybe five times. Or something like that.

But basically, I've been a fan (perhaps their NUMBER ONE FAN haha jk) of Full Measure, the Christian a cappella group on campus (but it's not just Penn people), since my freshman year. The people in it have always been super friendly and they are all very talented individuals. Some of my favorite people have been/are in it! (Yeah, that's right, I'm talking about joo ;) )

I have a friend who's part of Harvard's Christian a cappella group, and she was saying how she really liked her group because they can virtually sing any song they want, provided that they change the lyrics to make them sound Christian. While I'm sure that takes a lot of time and creative efforts, I can't help but think that I prefer what FM does - that is, stick to Christian songs/hymns. Sure, maybe using the tune of "Love the Way You Lie" might attract more non-Christians to their concerts, but if we're going to preach the Gospel, we might as well be straight-forward about it, right?

I love that it's been a tight and encouraging community for the people who have been in it. It's prompted some people to be more comfortable in their skin, to step up into leadership roles; it's taught others to be more serious about their faith, (because how can you stand up in front of a crowd of people and sing about Jesus and redemption in hopes of stirring their hearts if you don't make a personal effort to be stirred up yourself?); it's given them all an environment where they can grow and embrace two passions - music and GOD. It's a life-changing experience, so I've heard.

Anyway, they also have had/still have some sick talents and while they're not perfect musically (sorry, just putting it out there - I still love you!!!), I still MEGA LOOK FORWARD to their concert every semester...and luckily for me, their concert is THIS SATURDAY! YAY!

So...I know it's been a rough month with tons of rehearsals and long nights and etc., but for those who are in FM (and are reading this), hang in there!! I know it will be a mega-blessing concert and God intends to use yall powerfully.

And for those who are going and have bought your tickets, BE EXCITED! And for those who have not bought your tickets yet, BUY THEM! I'm sure by now you will have realized that there are quite a number of overzealous ticket sellers among them...(*coughsolcough*)

YAY FM! ♥
