pepperonis

So, for those of you who studied with me in Meyerson during this finals season, you may have noticed that I kept telling people that my back felt insanely terrible...as if my whole body was caving in on itself.

Well, it was. It might've sounded like I was just tired or something, but no, I was legitimately suffering from back problems. I've always been pretty tense, but it got to the point where I just couldn't sit still for a long period of time, where it gave me perpetual headaches, and I just felt like falling over into my bed 24/7 (which would actually result in me feeling worse because for some reason, my pillow has horrible neck support). Every time I had a difficult conversation or I got stressed about something, I felt even worse because my back would tense up even more than it already was. Therefore, my neck/back area is now MESSED up. I mean, it's nothing terrible (as in I don't have scoliosis or something scary like that), but I have a ton of knots all over my back.

THEREFORE, my mom took me to this Korean skincare/massagespaish place today and I got a crazy (CRAZY) massage done to release some of the tension (and trust me, there was a lot). But what was really crazy was that I got fire cupping done as well. Basically, if I saw what was happening to me, I would probably hate it because I hate dots, especially on the skin. But man, because I was lying face-down, I did not see what was coming, and my mom warned me that I would be freaked out if I looked in the mirror.

And you know what?

I didn't freak out, but it IS a bit disturbing because I have these HUGE dark purple bruises at various points along my back/sides - that is, the more messed up (knotted up and whatnot) a certain area is, the darker the circle is. The lady described them as pepperoni slices, and looking at myself, I guess that is the best description there is...

Do I feel better? Well, I don't know. I guess we'll see in the next week...my shoulders/left shoulder blade feels really sore, but I'm guessing that's the beginning of a (potentially painful?) healing process.
