My nails are grotesquely long right now.
I can't imagine how this is possible, actually. Being a violinist for a little over 14 years, keeping my nails short was part of a strict regimen. If I didn't cut them mad short every week or however long it took for them to grow past my fingertips, I felt nasty and blah.
But of course, I've always secretly wanted long nails once in my life because I've wanted to know what it feels like to get a legit manicure. Before every homecoming/prom, my mom would always take me to a nail place to get my nails done - the few truly girly indulgences in my life - but I've always considered getting a manicure on my short nails a complete waste of money. Although...I don't like how most long manicured nails look because they're usually accompanied by ugly hands. And I cannot tolerate ugly hands. (Just kidding.)
And sitting here, typing with these absurdly long fingernails...how does it feel? Weird. Like they've grown way past their limits - the fact that I can see my nails from behind my fingers (that is, if I turn my palm face up, I can see my nails poke out.) This is very, very odd. But yet, I don't feel completely repulsed by it like I would have in high school or something when I was hardcore about violin (kind of.) Man, how time flies.
But in all seriousness, I have this weird thing where I love cutting my nails, like I like how it feels to just cut off these superfluous...whatever nails are made of. I think it's a subgroup of the joy of cleaning category; you know, the whole letting my room get relatively messy before really cleaning it up so I have more to clean? Yeah, letting my nails get relatively long so I have more to...cut...
This is such an odd post. I should be doing work, but finals time always kills me.
On a sidenote, I cannot believe why anyone would want to grow their nails the longest and be entered in the Guinness book for longest nails. How would you get dressed/shower/type/FUNCTION in general?! (Type in "nails" into GoogleImages - it should be the 2nd picture. I would post it, but it's too gross for me to immortalize it on my blog :D)

yeah, i always know it's time to cut my nails when it becomes too annoying to type. i like having short nails...of course, not absurdly short but having short nails makes me feel...groomed? hahaha.
the first day i moved into my dorm, i needed to open a box i taped up with packing tape, and my room mate was like, "oh, i'll open it!" and she used her nail as if it were a box cutter to slice the tape open. that was kind of gross to me.
