Dear Econ,
Hello darling. I just wanted to say, I really like you. When I was suffering in my relationship with Herodotus, you were there for me. He abused me mentally and verbally and emotionally, but you made things easy for me. You were direct and clear-cut, and even when you wanted to get theoretical, you still showed me what you meant. I didn't have to constantly sit around to try to figure out what to do with you. You make the world work for me, and so even when things are going crazy in my life, I look forward to seeing you.
But why.
Why.
Why don't you like me back? I try so hard to spend as much time with you as I can. And I give you a break when you need space. I want to continue this relationship at least 2.5 years into the future, so why is it that you don't acknowledge my affinity for you? Must you test me and be so elusive, clouding my mind for a split second, only for me to realize exactly what I had missed ten minutes later? I do know you.
Other people think they hate you. Other people think you make their lives miserable. But I accept you for who you are, and I want to know you better. So please, can you just let me succeed just this one time? I promise you won't get tired of me - I don't know what you mean by the law of diminishing marginal benefits...when applied to love.
Sincerely,
Sarah
