history in the making

Tomorrow is going to be a crazy day.

I just feel like I am in the middle of all this action here in Philadelphia. I knew when I applied to Penn that I would be in a city environment and that I would be really close to revolutionary events and rich history and etc etc. But honestly? I didn't anticipate to what extent.

Starting with the Phillies. Hello, I did not know they were good at baseball in any way. I mean, even if they were, I still wouldn't know because I am not up to date with sports. But yeah, they won the World Series. The last time I paid attention to the World Series was when it was Yankees versus Mets back in 6th grade. Sad.

Then, I find out there's this giant pinata in South Philly because they're trying to break the Guinness World Record...although they totally failed at breaking it open...

But most importantly, I am in a swing state for voting. Which I will be doing tomorrow. I am changing history in a smidget of a way.

The moment is here. I feel like in some way, I don't understand exactly how powerful that moment will be. I've learned about it in history classes, the trials and tribulations of the people who sought the right to cast their ballot and let their voices be heard, but I have so simply received the right to do so without even a second thought. I'm not a big fan of politics, but just to know that I'll make a small immediate impact is just pretty...sweet.

There are so many things we take for granted, but just take the time to see what's right under your nose. You'll be surprised to see what you find.
